18th Jan: What is a Real Time Display (RTD) and what does it do?

Asked by Miss Harris

Home Energy Monitors

A Real Time Display unit - sometimes known as a Home Energy Monitor - is an electronic device that helps you to see the actual amount of electricity you're using. It's basically a "clamp" fitted around the tails of your meter, plus a separate display unit that is installed in the home (powered by either mains electricity or batteries).
