28 Aug: Gas prices. You said that the costs do not justify a reduction. When prices were raised you said that you had purchased at a specific price to ensure supply. How is it, when worldwide supply prices have been falling for sometime you did not arrange to purchase at lower price? On that basis either your purchasing manager is poor at his job or you are not passing the savings on to us.

Steve, you're right to say that we purchase our gas well in advance - this is to ensure continuity of supply. What is generally not talked about is the 12 months that wholesale prices steadily increased - over 200% since January 2007. If we had passed these costs on at the time, gas bills would have been well over double.
