28 Apr: Why do you still charge a standing charge?

Standing charges basically cover the costs of supplying gas and electricity to a property. Our prices are normally based on two rates - a primary rate and then a cheaper secondary rate - with no standing charges. But there are a few instances where there are standing charges - such as prepayment rates and some of our internet rates.

If you're on a standard tariff, the higher unit price replaces the standing charge as this covers the cost of supply and distribution. You can call us on 0845 6720073 so we may look at your account, check which tariff you're on and discuss the different options available to you.
