The impact of CO2 emissions on climate change is a real issue which needs to be tackled, but it’s equally vital to maintain secure power supplies for the UK and guard against major energy price shocks that can come from being over-reliant on one source of energy - particularly given already rising energy prices. We need a mix of all forms of power generation to reduce carbon emissions, but keep the lights on and manage prices.
