01 Sept '11: Just how green are you and why do prices rise in the colder months? Surely a steady payment all year on consumption would be a better way of helping us poor folk out here who have to have hot water bottles and blankets just to hope we keep our bills down. However I do think you are one of the better fuel company's.

Hello Vera, Thanks for your question. Wholesale energy prices often increase in the colder months because consumption levels are at their highest. In addition, any slight global influence in the marker is more keenly felt. For instance the wholesale market, winter delivery, has risen sharply over the last week because of technical issues in Qatar. You can follow market movements through http://www.npower.com/Corporate/Risk-management/Market-update/index.htm We do offer a steady payment for customers, through monthly direct debit. A flat cost each and every month. You pay the same in the winter as you do in the summer, the overall cost is dependent on the amount of energy you use over 12 months.
