30 Aug '11: How does an electric vehicle earn me money when it is sitting in my garage like a lump of cold metal? Are we going to be paid NOT to use it? Surely the cost of gas to operate a fuel cell generating system is more expensive than the current cost of fossil fuel generation? After all you have to manufacture the gas first by splitting water with electricity and my guess is that you cannot get more energy out of the chemical reaction than you put in!

V2G (or Vehicle to Grid) technology will allow stored energy within the battery to be sold back to the grid when the vehicle is not in use. Much in the same way as Feed-in-Tariffs (FITS) operate today.
