Helping hand

12th Jan: Hi, is there any way I can pay my cold weather payment to you? I pay by direct debit. Thanks

Asked by Colin from Yorkshire, 12/01/2010.

Cold weather payments are allocated by the Government when the local average temperature is zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. Eligible customers, including those on income support or who receive pension credit, receive £25 for each seven day period between November 1 and March 31. The recent lengthy cold snap means that around 4.2m people could be eligible: www.channel4.com/news/articles/politics/domestic_politics/cold+weather+payments++record+payouts/3496412

We would only be able to take your cold weather payment if you call us on 0845 071 4525 and pay it over the phone once you have received it.
