23 Jun: If as you claim the decision to discontinue tariffs for SOL14 backover was forced on Npower by Ofgem, why was there no announcement from Ofgem? And why haven't npower's competitors also had to make a similar move? Is this another case like gas sculpting where your explaination will change over time?

There was an announcement about the new rules www.ofgem.gov.uk/Media/PressRel/Documents1/Remedy%20release%20final.pdf last October. 

The new guidelines basically mean we can't offer discounted or introductory rates indefinitely. We also pointed out that our customers were free to choose a new rate if they wanted to. For example, our direct debit rate is our most popular scheme.
