There are different costs associated with supplying customers in different parts of the country. This is because different companies own and operate the wires through which electricity is transmitted, in different parts of the country. Each of these companies has different charges for suppliers, such as npower, who use these distribution networks.
So – it could cost less to send electricity to one part of the country compared to another part of the country. The same can be said for gas.
npower's prices (and every other supplier's prices for that matter) are calculated in order to cover these different regional costs. This is why prices differ in Scotland when compared to the North East and why the prices for Scotland are not available in the North East.
