30th Nov: Why, when paying by direct debit do we only get two bills per year? Can we not get four bills per year? This means people can see if they are going to be in debt in advance instead of getting a big shock when the six monthly bill comes?

Asked by Paul from North East, 30/11/2009.

Paul, we bill customers on a six monthly cycle as this is more cost effective and enables us to make savings, which we can pass on to our customers. As a direct debit customer you will see these benefits through the direct debit discount that you receive. We aim to get as close as possible to a balance of £0 at the end of the 12 month period and we find that six monthly reviews are the best way to stay on top of this.
