13 Jul: Why have you changed to six monthly bills? As your records will show I am quite happy to read my own meters so there is no cost to you in issuing quarterly bills online. I pay by Direct Debit but in view of all the changes in Tariffs in recent times it is important that customers can check that the Direct Debit is realistic in relation to the costs incurred on a regular basis.

We bill customers on a six monthly cycle as this is more cost effective and enables us to make savings that we can pass on to our customers. It also makes sense - as it gives a more general overview of usage – putting into context the peaks and troughs in usage throughout the year.

We aim to get as close as possible to a balance of £0 at the end of the 12 monthly period and we find that six monthly reviews are the best way to stay on top of this.

The system that we use to review accounts and generate monthly direct debit payments is one of the most robust in the industry according to the findings of an independent OFGEM report.
