23 Mar '10: Your website is really pioneering- I've never seen anything like it! It's a brave company who will publish negative comments and questions about their products/services online. As I work in a similar industry (i.e. service-providing and sometimes controversial) I applaud you. Our Marketing and Comms Directors are really keen on getting into new media such as Twitter, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's great to engage with customers and take their views on board, but new media is a lot harder to moderate than traditional media and it's easy for a defamatory thread to start. Is your site 'censored' at all, or do you post everything (good and bad) that your customers say?

Amy, many thanks for your feedback! We spotted that there was a real need for the energy industry to talk directly to customers and address their concerns - be it pricing, customer service issues, environmental concerns, or even to find out if the next generation of smart metering technology could save them money.

These are really challenging times and energy companies have a difficult balancing act to perform www.ofgem.gov.uk/Pages/MoreInformation.aspx?docid=73&refer=Markets/WhlMkts/Discovery

Energy pricing remains an issue and over the next few years, a large number of existing coal, oil and nuclear power stations will have to close as they reach the end of their operational lives, or are unable to achieve the latest environmental standards. Energy companies are working really hard to make huge investments in new infrastructure - while also keeping energy prices affordable for our customers.

We decided to take a different, interactive approach to discussing these issues and so we launched the website to put across npower’s - and the energy industry’s views. It's the first time npower has launched a social media style website (and I believe the first energy company?).

Yes, we do answer all questions - however 'awkward'! Occasionally, we'll receive a query which is centred around someone's own particular circumstances so we'll reply to them privately as it may not be appropriate to post it publicly on the site.

Again, thanks for your comments - we love to hear what people feel about the site.
